Naturopathy

Discover the healing power of nature

Work with a naturopath in Milwaukee to promote your body's own healing power

Naturopathy is a medical system rooted in understanding and promoting the body’s own healing power to establish, restore, and maintain health. Practitioner and patient work together to support this power with treatments such as nutrition and lifestyle counseling, dietary supplements, medicinal plants, exercise, and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Naturopathy offers a pathway to total body healing rather than merely relief that comes from treating only the symptoms of a disease. A naturopath sees the signs and symptoms of a disease as the body’s attempt to correct imbalance. After seeking and finding the underlying causes of imbalances that lead to disease, the naturopath is able to prescribe various therapies for returning the body to a state of homeostasis.

What to expect at Integrative Health Services

At Integrative Health Services, we use detoxification programs, homeopathy, vitamins, minerals, amino acids and herbal supplements to help the individual achieve optimum health. This is determined after an extensive review of the individual’s health history and present presentation of symptoms. A typical initial visit for naturopathic care is one-and-a-half to two hours. Dr. Meredith Young will review your health history and current symptoms, and use a variety of naturopathic evaluation tools and techniques. She may also incorporate several diagnostic tools of Traditional Chinese Medicine, including tongue and pulse examination. This comprehensive process yields a customized plan to help you live a healthy life.

What is naturopathy?

A naturopath has studied all the sciences that an MD or DO does (anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, immunology, and others) and then studies simple, natural means to promote healing. With an emphasis on diet, nutrition, detoxification, and supplementation, naturopathic medicine has been helpful in such diverse health issues as bowel diseases, mental health and emotional issues, frequent colds and flus, and digestive complaints. Naturopathic medicine, however, is not limited to these issues. At Integrative Health Services, we have worked extensively with children diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum as well as patients diagnosed with Parkinson’s, diabetes, ALS, MS, infertility, and cancer.

Dr. Young has practiced naturopathy in the Milwaukee area since 1996. She continues to attend post-graduate seminars and pursues other health studies. As the world of health care evolves, so do her skills and dedication to traditional naturopathy.
